Paul W. Logan, AIA, NCARB, ICC

History

Mr. Logan has practiced in the field of architecture and design for the past twenty years.  His experience has included standard architectural services, project and construction management, building code and accessibility analysis, Owner Representation services, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Expert Witness and Litigation Support, forensics, risk management and cost estimating.  Over his career, Mr. Logan has been responsible for the programming, design and development of various project types. Some of the project types Mr. Logan has been involved in include commercial, educational, governmental, institutional, manufacturing technologies, health and medical, information technology, historic preservation and residential facilities.  In addition to new construction projects, Mr. Logan has extensive experience in the evaluation and refurbishment of aged facilities.

 

In 1997, Mr. Logan founded his own practice to better provide individualized attention to each project.  Originally beginning as a sole owner and representative, the practice has evolved into The Architectural Alliance Group consisting of a specific network of professional architects, engineers and contractors, all serving the design and construction industries through professional practice.

Project Representation

For several years, Mr. Logan was retained by the State of Colorado as an Owner's Representative responsible for overseeing the programming, design development and construction of several higher educational facilities.  While in this position, Mr. Logan was responsible for establishing program requirements, developing probable cost statements, ensuring code compliancy and overseeing all construction efforts.  He was also responsible for negotiating all changes impacting project costs and schedules.  As the Owner's Representative, Mr. Logan acted as mediator for all disputes related to the projects, which has contributed to over one-thousand hours of field experience in mediation and negotiation services.

Forensics

Mr. Logan has a broad experience in providing forensic services and performing facility audits of existing buildings.  These services include complete analyses of the existing structure and its components for determining reuse versus replacement, feasibility studies and life-cycle cost analysis.  Mr. Logan has also provided these services for determining causation of damage as it relates to design and construction defects.

Cost Estimating

In addition to preparing cost estimates on AAG's architectural projects, Mr. Logan is well versed in preparing Probable Cost Statements in various capacities.  As an Owner's Representative for the State of Colorado, Mr. Logan was responsible for developing project budgets based on program plans for soliciting funding from the State Legislature and the Economic Development Authority.  Additionally, Mr. Logan has provided estimating services concerning remediation work for various insurance companies.

Building Codes

As a Certified Building Plans Examiner by the International Code Council, Mr. Logan has provided various types of code consulting services.  These services have included full plan review at various stages of design development and resolving building code interpretations with several building departments throughout Colorado.  He has developed a reputation for understanding the codes' intent and in developing alternative methods for complex situations.

ADR and Expert Witness

Mr. Logan is involved in various types of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Litigation Support services.  He currently provides services as an expert witness and has provided mediation type services both in the public and private sectors.  Mr. Logan has assisted in negotiating settlements for various types of claims and has been qualified as an expert, testifying in areas of architecture, forensic investigations, building code analysis and interpretation, remediation design and probable cost analysis.
